Airbus CEO Tom Enders and Airbus China President Laurence Barron told ATW in Tianjin in late June that the manufacturer's new A319/A320 final assembly line is central to its plan "to build a Chinese identity for Airbus." The company delivered the first A320 produced at Tianjin to Sichuan Airlines in June. Airbus currently accounts for 41% of the country's commercial aircraft. Barron said the FAL "will give us an advantage in selling aircraft here, not only A320s." But Tianjin is a considerable investment.
