Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. resumed flight tests of the FTA-1 for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) on Feb. 10. "During about 1.5-hour flight test off the Pacific coast, we confirmed the upgrades carried out on the aircraft," Mitsubishi said in a statement. Boeing will reduce the production rate of the 747-8 to 0.5 aircraft per month-or just six per year-starting in September 2016, citing softness in the global air cargo market. The 747-8 is now being produced at the rate of 1.3 aircraft per month and the rate was previously slated to drop to one per month in March. Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner said the "air cargo market recovery that began in late 2013 has stalled in recent months and slowed demand for the 747-8 freighter."
