Airbus developed an A380 configuration that will enable airlines to add up to 14 more seats, increasing capacity to 543 passengers in a standard four-class layout. The new concept will be available from 2018. Malaysia Airlines selected Airbus to upgrade its A330 business-class cabins. All 15 of the carrier's A330s are being upgraded and deployed progressively, with the retrofits scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2016. The new business-class seats offer a 44-inch pitch with a 20-inch width and 76-inch length when fully flat. Each seat is equipped with a 16-inch touchscreen inflight entertainment system. The newly configured A330s will have 27 all-new business- and 263 economy-class seats.
