When regional airframe manufacturers want to validate their newest jet aircraft, there is one airline above all others from which they seek approval. If an aircraft is not good enough for ATW's Regional Airline of the Year, it is likely going to be quite a hard sell to the rest of the world's regional carriers. St. George, Utah-based SkyWest, parent of Sky-West Airlines and Expressjet, operates a fleet of more than 750 aircraft-a mix of both Bombardier and Embraer planes-on more than 4,030 average daily flights throughout the US as well to destinations in Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. It employs around 20,000 workers.
