There has been much talk regarding the international row over the European Union's move to include aviation in its emissions trading program, which has been briefly been put on pause for all flights landing in the EU from a non-EU point of origin while a global, ICAO-created alternative solution is worked. However, little has been said about the impact EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) is also having on small aviation operators. Within the aviation sector any aircraft operator, whether EU- or foreign-based, completing flights between EU airports will be included under EU ETS. There are some exceptions such as military, police, customs and rescue flights; however the vast majority of flights are included.
