It's a well-heeled visitor who typically arrives at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in the Maldivian capital Male; wealthy and in search of a first-class resort well away from prying eyes. But to look at the terminal, it's difficult to believe this is the gate way to paradise. "It's a shed," Male airport CEO Andrew Harrison admitted in his description of the cur rent 25-year-old terminal. "It does not represent the experience of the tourist and we have to upgrade. They have high expectations." With more than $500 million available from its new owners, GMR Group, Male Airport is therefore embarked on a complete rebuild program.
