While those in the Americas sometimes blame mysterious aviation and nautical events on the body of water known as the Bermuda Triangle, another triangle is emerging on the other side of the world that appears to some to be equally mysterious. It's called the Ningaloo Triangle, taking its name from the huge reef that stretches up the Western Australia coast and ends near the North West Cape at Exmouth, the site of a US submarine communications base. Commissioned US Naval Communication Station North West Cape on Sept. 16, 1967, it was renamed the next year to carry the name of late Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt, who disappeared in puzzling circumstances in the surf off the Victoria coast in December 1967.
