February's Route Analysis looks at three carriers moving into new territories that were unlikely to have been on the radar this time a year ago. Etihad Airways will open a daily scheduled year-round route between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Tel Aviv (TLV) in March, becoming the latest carrier to serve the United Arab Emirates-Israel market. The launch follows the normalization of diplomatic ties between the two nations and the signing of the Abraham Accords in Washington DC in September 2020. A month later, Etihad became the first Gulf Cooperation Council carrier to operate a commercial passenger flight to and from TLV.
