Singapore Airlines named Goh Choon Phong as its new CEO, effective Jan. 1, succeeding Chew Choon Seng, 64, who announced he will step down at year end. Chew has held the CEO post since 2003. Goh, 47, currently is chairman of SIA's SilkAir subsidiary and is also executive VP-marketing and the regions for SIA. He has been with the company since 1990.rn"The time is appropriate for renewal of the leadership in SIA," Chew, who has beenrnwith the airline for 39 years, said in a statement. "The business has regained ground lost during the recession of 2008-09, the company is profitable and on an even keel."
