It was 1991 and I was working in the sales department of the Corporate Jets Division of British Aerospace. My boss called me into his office one Monday morning and said: "Sit down - would you like some coffee?" I knew I wasn't in trouble at least. After the coffee had been poured, he said: "You know Russia, don't you? I've got a job for you; we've got a new agent I'd like you to look at. How soon can you go to Moscow?" It was like a scene from a James Bond movie. The wall had come down, and Russia was suddenly the centre of attention; I didn't need to visit Gypsy Rose Lee to foresee travel to foreign parts.
