Ten elected officials of densely-populated Nassau County, NY, on Long Island - including two members of Congress - told NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a June 3 letter that significant changes are needed in the bylaws of a regional noise roundtable the governor ordered to be formed in 2013 to address noise problems caused by airspace changes affecting LaGuardia and JFK International airports. The New York Communities Aviation Roundtable (NYCAR) “lacks a fair distribution of voting power among its members, fails to include all communities affected by airplane noise, and is incapable of completing any meaningful business,” congressional Reps. Kathleen Rice (D) and Tom Suozzi, told Cuomo.
