On Oct. 15, the Transportation Research Board issued the pre-publication draftof Airport Cooperative Research Program Research Report 212: Airports and UnmannedAircraft Systems, Volume 1: Managing and Engaging Stakeholders on UASin the Vicinity of Airports.It is unclear why TRB issued the report in draft form other than to provide it toairports more quickly.“The demand for commercial UAS may increase significantly once advancedUAS operations – including beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations, operationsover people, and operations of multiple UAS by one pilot – are allowedthrough broader regulatory frameworks,” TRB explained in issuing the report.
