Some 17 airports received a total of $70.5 million in federal Airport ImprovementProgram (AIP) grants for noise mitigation projects in fiscal year 2019. That is$46.2 million less than the $116.8 million that 16 airports received for noise mitigationprojects in fiscal year 2018, according to FAA data.The FY 2018 funding level for AIP noise projects was $33.5 million greater thatin FY 2017. But generally, AIP funding levels for airport noise mitigation projectshave been on a downward trend since they peaked in fiscal 2005 when 57 airportsreceived a total of $337.1 million in AIP grants.
