Members of the House Quiet Skies Caucus are beginning to reintroduce legislationaddressing the impact of aircraft noise on communities that had no chance ofpassage in the last Congress because Republicans controlled the Senate and had littleinterest in the issue.But now the Democrats control the Senate, with Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA)chairing the Senate Commerce Committee and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) chairingits Aviation Subcommittee. Many of their constituents are well-organized andactive on the aircraft noise issue and likely to press for legislative relief from aircraftnoise problems.
