The critical question raised by FAA’s January release of its National Environmental Survey (NES) on annoyance to aircraft noise in communities around U.S. airports is ‘What happens next?’, Airport Council International – North America asserted in comments to the agency. Indeed. FAA has said it will not act on the NES findings “until it considers public and other stakeholder input along with any additional research needed to improve the understanding of the effects of aircraft noise exposure on communities.”
