Airbus announced Sept. 21 that it is ushering in the next generation of its CityAirbus, a four-passenger, zero emissions eVTOL aircraft with a ‘noise-friendly’ design. The first flight of the CityAirbus NextGen prototype is planned for 2023. The CityAirbus is a fully electric vehicle equipped with fixed wings, a V-shaped tail, and eight electrically powered propellers as part of its uniquely designed distributed propulsion system. CityAirbus is being developed to fly with an 80 km range and to reach a cruise speed of 120 km/h, making it perfectly suited for operations in major cities for a variety of missions, Airbus said.
