On Aug. 19, the Fair Allocation in Runways (FAiR) community coalition lost its battle to keep open two diagonal runways at O’Hare International Airport in order to spread aircraft noise impact in a wider geographic area. One of the diagonals (Runway 14L-32R) was quietly decommissioned over night. The other is still slated for closure in 2020.
