Erbil's impressive new terminal was designed by URS Scott Wilson, which carried out the initial concept design and master plan for Iraq's newest gateway.rnAs security is a key issue in Iraq, the airport has a unique security concept requiring all passengers, visitors and staff to be screened at a purpose-built control building before accessing the terminal.rnIts 4,800m long CAT II instrument landing system runway is one of longest in the world and its facilities include a 50,000sqm passenger terminal, cargo building, fire station, control tower, operations block, fuel farm and other ancillary facilities.
