IN THIS MONTH'S issue, we celebrate two things that I hold very dearly: anything related to Pan Am and to Alitalia. The former, well, it's what made most of us fall in love with commercial aviation. It's what made lots of us dream and wish, one day, to become part of all the glam and flair reflected in those white and blue colors, anywhere around the world.- As for the latter-I've said it before-what Alitalia represents means everything to me. And to see a DC-8-the aircraft that actually flew my parents back and forth between Italy and the Americas in the 1980s-working for NASA today, surely puts a big smile on my face! Our Managing Editor, Chris Sloan, was blessed to hop on that beautiful four-engined jet and experience a cloud-hunting mission departing from our backyard airport in Fort Lauderdale. But this is just another tale written by one of our stellar team of contributors. I must admit that the story I enjoyed the most in our 260~(th) issue of Airways is the Pan Am Experience. Airways had the opportunity to enjoy this one-of-a-kind time machine experience in Los Angeles, California, where guests are transported back to the best days of Pan Am elegance. The level of detail in this experience does take one back to the golden era of commercial aviation. Now, as our 2017 editorial year approaches December, I would like to thank you all-our subscribers, contributors, advertisers, and worldwide readers-for all the support you have given us since day-one. Next year, we turn 25 and many surprises are coming up for you all. In the meantime, I invite you to join us in our next Spot & Greet event in Cape Cod on Columbus Day weekend (October 7-9, 2017). We have chartered a pristine DC-3 that will take us on scenic joyrides around the most beautiful location on the US East Coast. We will also have our acclaimed columnist Clay Taylor joining us for a story-telling session after we will have landed from our DC-3 Av-Venture. And, if you're not a Boston local, our friends at JetBlue have partnered with us to offer you a 25% discount in and out of Boston Logan for that weekend only! Check out the ad on page 6 and sign up quickly! We have very few spots available for you. See you in October! Happy landings.
