THROUGHOUT THE 1950s, SABENA continued to expand, both in Europe and beyond. The improved Douglas DC-6B came on line in March 1953, enabling introduction of the premium Royal Sabena service brand, which afforded luxury travel across the Atlantic for just 28 passengers per flight. Those privileged few could enjoy banquet meals, reclining sleeper seats, and optional sleeping berths.
