Push-back for flight JL1224 was on time at 1450, and we were airborne a few minutes later. Although civil traffic at Misawa shares a runway with the Japan Self-Defense Forces/US Air Force base, there is no congestion at this airport, which sees only three scheduled JAL/JAL Express roundtrips a day, all to and from HND. Service to Osaka-Itami (ITM) was terminated in 2010 during JAL's bankruptcy reorganization, although Hokkaido Air System is planning to launch service to MSJ from Sapporo-Okadama (OKD) in summer 2013, a route JAL abandoned in 2007.
