In the early evening of Easter Sunday, Captain Don Rheinhart shut down the engines of a BAe 146 (N291UE) of Air Wisconsin Airlines (IATA: ZW/ICAO: AWI) on the ramp at the airline's Appleton base. After 17 years flying the four-engine British jet, it was the last time he would do so. Shortly afterward, another Air Wisconsin 146 landed at Denver, Colorado, on a flight from Des Moines, Iowa. That arrival marked the conclusion of the last-ever revenue service by an Air Wisconsin 146, putting an end to almost 23 years of service by the type with the regional carrier— the longest for any BAe 146 operator.
