摘要

Nis is the second largest city of Serbia [Srbija], located 224km (139mi) south of Belgrade [Beograd]. Before the political crisis of the Nineties, the city was also the region's industrial center. A diverse range of goods, ranging from electronics and tobacco products to Pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, was produced in Nis and nearby locations. With the expansion of industry trade, and—later on—tourism in the nearby ski resort at Kopaonik, it became evident that the region needed its own airport.
