I very much enjoyed David Stringer's series on Northeast Airlines, a colorful carrier if there ever was one. The final part (December 2011) brought back memories of those Yellowbirds and the company's entry into the Miami-Los Angeles market. When the service was announced in 1969, Northeast marketing went all out on the West Coast to sell its new product. A special showing of the 1964 motion picture, The Yellow Rolls-Royce, was the centerpiece for a gala welcoming party for interline and travel agent guests, held at the MGM film studios.
