By many measures one of the world's fastest-growing airlines, Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras (Azul Brazilian Airlines) has carried over 12 million passengers since starting service three years ago (Airways, January 2009). Operating a mixed Emb'raer regional jet fleet of ERJ 190s and 195s, recently supplemented by short-range ATR turboprops, the airline was one of theiargest capitalized start-ups when it took to the air in December 2008. Operating solely within the domestic market of financial powerhouse Brazil [Brasil], one of the world's largest economies, Azul is a compelling airline story in its own right, inextricably intertwined with the contribution of its dynamic CEO David Neeleman.
