摘要

Cuzco is served by an en route facility which is somewhat similar to a US terminal control center. Because of harsh mountainous terrain-with peaks of 16,000ft-surrounding the airport, most modern ATC resources, such as radar, ILS (instrument landing system), or glideslope are impractical. Instead, much like in the early days of ATC, the en route facility relies on reports from inbound traffic for their location, speed, and altitude. STAR (standard terminal arrival) and SID (standard instrument departure) procedures are used, and are posted above the ATC consoles.
