At the beginning of the VIR[CAST] project, the aim was to integrate all project developments into one new software to valorise the VIR[CAST] results. Calcom ESI, as a recognised software-house, proposed and developed a software coupling concept, able to link existing commercial solutions with new models: hot-tearing, as-cast micro-structure, homogenisation and precipitation models. This concept is aimed at reading various result file formats from commercial software and converting them into input files for the newly developed VIR[CAST] modules, setting up the model based on these inputs, running the computation and finally, visualising and analysing the results. A previous publication, presented at the mid-term meeting, described the concept from a "theoretical" point of view.
