This work is the continuation of the research effort presented previously in the framework of the VIR[*] Conference 2002 that took place in Ijmuiden, The Netherlands [1], It was presented in Brussels during the VIR[*] Conference 2004 as part of the European project VIRCAST that aims at modelling the main phenomena involved in aluminium alloys DC casting, namely hot tearing, as-cast microstructure formation and homogenisation-precipitation. In this paper, the rheological behaviour of the mushy alloy during solidification at high solid fractions and small strains is particularly considered. The model has been presented previously together with some experiments dealing with shear and tensile testing [1]. Additional experiments are reported in this work and a particular attention is given to the modelling of these experiments.
