Vertical DC billet casting units with Airsol Veil hot-top moulds are selling at an accelerating pace. The first production unit operated from 1985 using conventional air flow adjustment; computerised air control took over in 1990. Then from 1994 to 1998, eight of these computerised units with 22 mould tables came on stream. In 1999, four more units with 15 mould tables started up, so that worldwide 50 mould tables will be running in 12 different companies by early 2000.
