Recent developments in the field of aluminium production were the theme of the 128th TMS-Meeting, which took place in San Antonio from February 28 - March 4,1999.170 papers were presented in 29 sessions. These paper of the Light Metals Division covered new developments, achievements and improvements in the fields of bauxite and alumina(20 papers), aluminium reduction technology(48 papers),carbon technology(24 papers),cast shop technology (61 papers),general recycling of materials (6 papers) and reactive metals (10 papers).
