摘要

Hypereutectic AlSi alloys have a low thermal expansion coefficient and excellent wear resistance. Their high temperature strength can be improved by adding Ni and after the addition of Cu and Mg they can be strengthened by heat treatment. AlSi alloys processed by various casting techniques such as low-pressure casting and pressure or gravity diecasting are widely used for the production of mechanical components such as parts of automobile engines or pistons for diesel engines. For a number of years they have been used to replace cast iron in the manufacture of cylinder blocks, parts of compressors, and other components which must be resistant to abrasion.
