Not far from the notable production facilities of Gottlieb Daimler, where his first motorcycle, motorboat and automobile were built, in Stuttgart Bad Cannstatt in 1920 the first mass-produced, ready-to-fit light metal pistons to appear on the continent of Europe were produced. This marked the beginning of a fruitful cooperation between the light metals, automobile and aircraft industries, from which foundry technology has also derived great benefit.
