Since the summer of last year Tenova LOI Thermprocess in Essen, Germany, together with Belte AG, has been operating a technical pilot plant at its works in Landshut, Bavaria, for the heat treatment of aluminium castings. This does not consist of a small, laboratory-scale furnace, explains Hermann Meyer, sales director, Light Metals, but rather a shortened but complete production unit which can be used for small production runs and also, and above all, for trials on the heat treatment of demanding structural components for the automobile industry in advanced of their large-scale series production.
