In 2015 the market for aluminium extruded products was growing - at least in North America, where recently published industry statistics report an increase of 4.6 percent. In transport, the second-largest market segment, deliveries even rose by 8.7 percent. A high proportion of the aluminium profiles used in this sector are incorporated into passenger cars and light vehicles, busses and trucks, along with trailers and semi-trailers. Thus, besides castings for engine blocks and cylinder heads, and sheets for vehicle bodies, aluminium extrusions too are continually gaining importance in automotive engineering. In contrast, in Europe the market for extruded products fell off slightly - a result of the still sluggish trade development even though the automobile industry itself has remained relatively robust.
