In November Dubai ordered a batch homogenising plant from Hertwich Engineering. This is the fourth plant of its kind that Hertwich is to supply to the aluminium smelter. The batch homogenising plant is designed for very short heating times. A reversing air concept and regulation by flaps accelerates the heating by an estimated 20% and achieves improved temperature uniformity. The plant is fully automated, with heating being controlled by measurement of the air and metal temperatures. The furnace has a capacity of 55 tonnes for billet diameters between 152 and 406 mm. Start of production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2015.
