Auto manufacturers around the world continue turning to aluminium at a dramatically increasing rate, particularly for structural components and exterior body panels. Aluminium is becoming the sustainable choice for the latest generation of vehicles because of its low weight and recyclability that lead to reduced life cycle emissions. Innovations, in materials design and car manufacturing techniques on a broad front, are helping to spur that pull from auto manufacturers who are looking to aluminium to replace steel and increase cost-effectively the performance, safety, durability and fuel-efficiency of their vehicles while also reducing GHG emissions. In turn, the world's leading providers of aluminium automotive body sheet have responded to address this projected increased demand with investments to boost their production capabilities around the world.
