The sawing of aluminium logs measuring over six metres in length and up to 800 mm in diameter remains a great challenge. Behringer GmbH of Kirchstadt in Southwest Germany supplied a customer in Shandong, China, with a high-performance HBM800ALU bandsaw for cutting billets which are then further processed into extruded profiles. The aluminium processor market in China is very narrowly defined, with only a few suppliers dividing up the bulk of available orders between them. This makes it all the more important for the remaining market contenders to align their equipment investment with the big players. "The market leaders set the pace, and the rest of the market falls in behind," explains Christian Behringer, CEO of band-saw manufacturer Behringer GmbH. The company has been active in the Chinese market for many years, and is able to call on a wide range of existing reference machines already successfully in operation for large-scale suppliers when tendering to new customers.
