In its Annual Report 2012, Chalco reported an overall domestic output of primary aluminium of 21.30m tonnes, representing a year-on-year increase of 9.5%. Overall domestic consumption of primary aluminium was 21.45m tonnes, up 10% y-o-y. According to the company, the capacity utilisation rate (CUR) of primary aluminium enterprises in China was 78% while the CUR of the global aluminium industry, including China, was 84%. Global output of primary aluminium was 47.06m tonnes, up 3.2%, while global consump- tion was 46.61m tonnes, up 3.3%.
