UC Rusal, the largest aluminium producer in the world, is also Russia's biggest producer of aluminium foil and packaging materials made from aluminium foil. The company's packaging division is made up of three foil mills: Sayanal, Armenal, Ural Foil and another facility, Sayana Foil, where household foil is rolled, packed and branded. Currently, the packaging division makes 81,000 tonnes of aluminium foil a year. But, Rusal is planning on boosting production up to 100,000 tonnes a year by 2014. The company is going to invest about USD17 million into this project. The payoff period should be three to four years.
