摘要

During the last decade, the aluminium industry value-addition chain has been experiencing a pronounced de-verticalisation of integrated multinational aluminium companies. The extrusion business was a precursor of that. This is not only linked to the maturity of the aluminium industry and its capital intensity but also to the globalisation of the business and the changing competitive rules along the life cycle. What are the special features of the extrusion business? What types of business models are possible? Which strategy is the appropriate one? The present paper will answer these questions in the light of the unbroken tendency toward globalisation.
