摘要

Aluminium is not only a functional metal with very many practical uses, but also a material which offers artists a great variety of approaches for creative design. The husband-and-wife couple, artists Heike Rose and Bernd W. Schmidt-Pfeil, each in their own manner, have developed a post-photographic or post-hyperrealistic style of engagement with aluminium with expressively striking results. Whereas Heike Rose's photorealistic presentations have much in common with painting, the works by Bernd W. Schmidt-Pfeil are 'post-hyperrealistic' creations which exaggerate reality and thereby highlight elements that embody social commentary. With their creations and sculptures, both artists cast an objective eye on the commonplace and change our perception of social phenomena.
