Winter months in Canada can be difficult for the lifting, rigging and specialized transportation industry. But companies in this sector are used to the weather getting in the way of their work, and they've learned to work around subzero temperatures, snow, wind and rain. This past winter was especially tenuous because just as the weather was getting colder, oil and gas prices started their decline. While lower fuel costs were a good thing for consumers and businesses, those who depend on the work generated by the upstream energy sector were worried about the work they could anticipate after the spring thaw.
