When AmQuip purchased the Terex Superlift 3800 on display at ConExpo 2014 in Las Vegas, they knew they were getting an impressive piece of machinery. "People come around and whip out their phones to take pictures because they've never seen anything this big," said Michael Mazzarese, one of the two men operating the Superlift 3800 at the La Cygne Generating Station outside Kansas City. The La Cygne Generating Station is undergoing an environmental retrofit project that includes the installation of two Hitachi wet FGD scrubbers, new Hamon fabric filters on Units One and Two, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, low-NOx burners and an over-fire air system on Unit Two. Upon completion, the plant will be one of the cleanest coal-fired generation stations in the country.
