摘要

Most contractors in the U.S. never need to think about piling under homes that have a basement or slab foundation. But it is a necessary way of building in the New Orleans area of the Mississippi Delta. Every structure must have piling under it to assure a firm foundation. Piling has kept Howard Pile Driving and their Link-Belt cranes busy for more than 40 years. In 1969 in Kenner, LA, Howard Austin started Howard Pile Driving with a Bantam crane and a Link-Belt LS-98. At that time, hundreds of homes were being relocated to the western suburbs of Kenner and Metairie while making room for Interstate 610 north of downtown New Orleans. Most piling at that time was 8-inch diameter wooden poles weighing about 400 pounds. They supported homes, concrete patios and driveways.
