RFID started to gain traction in the lifting industry in 2006. The goal was to have a better identification and inspection solution for rigging, hardware and fall protection equipment. This gear is a real challenge to track for several reasons: it's small, it's usually made of metal, it's mobile and it's exposed to the abuses of day-to-day lifting. With increasing government regulation and safety concerns, the inspection and service of this equipment continues to be a growing priority.
