SC&RA's 2009 Specialized Transportation Symposium, March 11-13, at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque, Albuquerque, NM, will be a forum for the exchange of ideas on many topics, ranging from issues and trends in the realm of specialized transportation to the global economy. The event encourages face-to-face interactions among more than 350 specialized carriers, state and federal government officials, researchers, manufacturers and suppliers.rnThe STS brings together federal and state highway officials, permit engineers, equipment manufacturers, escort service operators, shippers and specialized carriers to discuss trends and issues related to uniformity and the challenges of specialized transportation sector. In addition to permit uniformity, issues to be addressed in sessions include infrastructure constraints versus cargo movement demands, environmental challenges and opportunities, practices that simultaneously enhance safety and profitability, and the use of proper contracts to provide protection in routine business transactions. Attendees will also benefit from a real-time update on the Highway Reauthorization Bill and other legislation that could have an impact on the movement of cargo in today's challenging economic environment.
