The American Petroleum Institute has renewed its call for Congress to end the Renewable Fuels Standard program following the Environmental Protection Agency's Nov. 30 announcement of renewable fuel requirements for 2018 and biomass-based diesel for 2019. The Clean Air Act requires EPA to finalize the RFS volume requirements by Nov. 30 for the following year, the agency points out in its announcement. The RFS volumes for 2018, EPA says, are 19.29 billion gallons of renewable fuel, 4.29 billion gallons of advanced biofuel and 288 million gallons of cellulosic biofuel. The 2019 biomass-based diesel requirement is 2.1 billion gallons, EPA adds.
