摘要

The authors have designed this text for students in education and the behavioral sciences so that they may be "better prepared researchers" and "more intelligent consumers of research." Appropriate for either a one- or two-semester course, the text covers topics from introductory through intermediate statistics. The well-organized text is both comprehensive and flexible. Topics are presented sequentially and developed enough so as to be understood in later chapters. The flexibility is seen in the division of sections. For instance, a topic is first introduced conceptually, followed by a section that highlights the SPSS software package and the appropriate coding, and concluded with sample excerpts of how the topic is discussed in a research article using an APA-style write-up. This flow allows the instructor to focus on those aspects deemed most essential for the course.
