The Latest: The US announced the suspension of tariffs on British and EU consumer products on March 4-5 2021. The tariffs were introduced in October 2019, as a result of the Airbus-Boeing WTO dispute. Various UK and EU consumer products, including Scotch whisky, wine, pork, dairy products and various fashion items were subject to a 25% tariff rate for a 16-month period. The tariff suspension will remain in place for at least four months, during which the UK, EU and US governments will focus on negotiating a resolution to the disputes. The move comes after the US had extended the scope of the tariffs in January 2021, to include certain non-sparkling wines and cognac from France and Germany.
