1. Brazilian dietary spending patterns have evolved over the years, but we note that the main spending categories have stillremained the same. The majority of food spending goes towards meat and poultry and dairy, which accounts for around half oftotal food spending. Spending on beef, in particular, will continue to see its share of food spending rise.2. We note a strong growth among the smallest food spending categories, indicating that Brazilians are gradually diversifying theirdiets away from the main food spending categories. We note in particular that fish spending will be the second fastest growingsegment after pasta, albeit coming from a low base.3. Convenience trends are increasingly shaping what consumers spend on, as evidenced by growing demand for pasta products,the fastest-growing food category in Brazil, according to our forecasts.
